Meet the flying fish that soar above the waves

The flying fish, Exocoetidae, found in warm waters, have winglike fins enabling them to glide above the water’s surface to escape predators. Capable of reaching speeds of 16 km/h and heights of 4 meters, these fishes can glide up to 180 meters in a single leap, making them an intriguing phenomenon in marine biology.
