UP: Man accused of cow slaughter injured in police encounter

A man accused of cow slaughter in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, was injured during a confrontation with police. While attempting to escape custody, the accused, Amir, allegedly grabbed an officer’s pistol and fired. Police returned fire, injuring Amir in the leg. He is currently hospitalized. A case has been registered against Amir under the IPC and animal cruelty laws.
