India’s coal import rises 8% to 140.60 MT in April-September
India saw a 7.8% rise in coal imports during the first half of this fiscal year, reaching 140.60 million tonnes. This increase is attributed to a surge in non-coking coal imports, which offset a decline in coking coal imports. Despite this, overall import demand is expected to remain moderate due to sufficient domestic stockpiles and competitive pricing in local markets.
