Rs 1,400 crore project to strengthen Puducherry coast and blue economy

Puducherry proposes the ‘PY-SHORE’ project worth ₹1,433 crore to enhance its blue economy and coastal sustainability. Funded majorly by the World Bank, the initiative includes constructing a southern reef, revitalizing mangroves, and renovating fishing harbors. It also plans to tackle marine plastic pollution, promote eco-tourism, and modernize fisheries infrastructure, aiming for sustainable coastal growth.
