Airtel sends letter to TRAI: Warns of spam moving to WhatsApp, Google Messages and other OTT apps

Airtel has petitioned the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to address spam and fraud on over-the-top (OTT) platforms. The telecom company warned of increasing spam migrating to unregulated OTT channels. Airtel proposed solutions like standardized KYC, DLT scrubbing, and a unified digital consent system for both telecom and OTT platforms to combat unsolicited communications.
