A 3-foot asteroid fireball burns up over the Philippines amid typhoon Yahi

A small asteroid disintegrated over Luzon Island in the Philippines on September 4th after being detected by the Catalina Sky Survey. The asteroid posed no threat as it burned up in Earth’s atmosphere. Despite Typhoon Yahi’s cloud cover, videos of the event were shared online. NASA and ESA continue their planetary defense efforts.
