Cyclone Fengal: Schools closed today amid heavy rain in Chennai, IMD issues red alert for heavy rainfall

Due to heavy rain, the Chennai district collector declared a holiday for schools on Friday. Chengalpettu district also followed suit. The deep depression in the Bay of Bengal is projected to weaken without forming Cyclone Fengal. An orange alert is issued for Chennai, with extremely heavy rain expected in several north coastal districts.
