Lesbianism reintroduced in new MBBS curriculum as sexual offence
The National Medical Commission has brought back contentious subjects in the forensic medicine curriculum for undergraduates, such as ‘sodomy and lesbianism’ as unnatural sexual offences. Despite the Supreme Court’s decriminalisation of homosexuality, these topics have been reintroduced. The updated curriculum also covers legal issues but omits a seven-hour disability training module, emphasizing medico-legal aspects instead.
