Maharashtra assembly elections: Army, partner forces flew 140 sorties spanning over 77 hours
The Indian Army played a crucial role in ensuring smooth elections in remote, Maoist-affected areas of Maharashtra. Using helicopters, they transported election officials, materials, and personnel, enabling voting in otherwise inaccessible locations. Over 140 sorties were flown, carrying hundreds of passengers and thousands of kilograms of cargo, including EVMs, to areas like Sawargaon and Gyarapatti.
