Hippos, despite the myth, don’t produce pink milk. Their white milk can sometimes mix with a reddish secretion, called “blood sweat,” which acts as a sunscreen and antibiotic. These massive, semi-aquatic mammals spend much of their time in water, are surprisingly fast on land, and boast powerful jaws and a herbivorous diet.
