Texas confirms first locally transmitted dengue case of the year

Texas confirmed its first local dengue case in 2024 in Cameron County. The state has seen 106 travel-related dengue cases this year, one resulting in death. This is the highest number of cases since 2002. Nationally, dengue cases have tripled compared to last year. The CDC issued a health alert in June due to the increased risk.
