Andrha Pradesh rain: Vijayawada still under water, damage to Prakasam barrage cause of concern

High inflows in the Krishna River have heavily damaged Prakasam Barrage’s flood gates, as three boats were swept away and collided with them. State officials are assessing the extent of the damage and planning repair works. Traffic on the barrage is closed as a precautionary step while the floodwaters begin to recede.
