Lost in flight? 2 African lapwings at Telangana lake surprise bird watchers
Two male African spur-winged lapwings, a species not known to migrate to Asia, have surprised scientists by appearing at Ammavaripeta lake in Warangal, Telangana. First spotted in January, the birds have remained at the lake, even though high water levels usually deter migratory species. Experts believe the birds’ presence, attributed to avian vagrancy, is the only one in Asia.
