An analysis by Centre for Science and Environment revealed that Diwali night saw a 34% higher PM2.5 concentration than in 2022, with nitrogen oxide levels also increasing. The spike was attributed to local firecrackers and a sharp rise in pollutants from stubble burning, accounting for 27% of Delhi’s pollution on that day.
