Centre withholds Rs 573 crore school fund for Tamil Nadu rejecting NEP
The Union government withheld 573 crore under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) for Tamil Nadu due to non-acceptance of the National Education Policy (NEP). The state opposed the three-language formula in the PM SHRI scheme. This funding delay risks salaries for 15,000 teachers and affects other educational provisions. A revised MoU without NEP guidelines was rejected by the Centre.
