5 Naxalites killed in encounter with police in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli
At least five Naxalites were killed in an encounter with police in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district. This follows recent operations, including one where 12 Maoists were shot dead in a six-hour gunfight. The Indian government aims to end Left-wing extremism by March 2026. In the past 10 years, 85 per cent of Left-wing extremists’ strength in Chhattisgarh and 14 top CPI (Maoist) leaders across the country have been eliminated.
