World’s largest earthworms that are more than 3 metres in length
The giant Gippsland earthworm, native to southeastern Australia’s Bass River Valley, can grow up to 9.8 feet long. Listed as Vulnerable, these worms thrive in clayey subsoil and wet environments. Conservation efforts are underway to preserve their fragile habitats, disrupted by agricultural developments.
