Rare rainfall in the Sahara Desert after 50 years; Here’s why
For the first time in the last half-century, the Sahara Desert has flooded severely. This rare extreme weather came after two days of continuous rainfall in the southeastern Morocco region of the North African desert. It dramatically changed the barren land in that area. Even though the recent rainfall has undoubtedly helped replenish groundwater reservoirs and indeed has proven to be of relief for farmers, the experts still encourage realistic perspectives.
