Staff stay put beyond three-year term; ‘Transfer Act’ still on paper

Under Maharashtra’s 2005 Transfer Act, government employees cannot serve more than three years at one workplace without an exception. However, numerous employees at Pune’s BJ Medical College and Sassoon General Hospital have overstayed their tenure, some for up to 25 years. This situation has been highlighted amid recent hospital controversies, raising calls for adherence to the law.
