Rwanda will deploy Marburg vaccine under trial as death toll rises to 12
Rwanda health authorities will launch a vaccine study to counter the Marburg hemorrhagic fever outbreak, which has already claimed 12 lives. The Sabin Vaccine Institute provided 700 trial doses targeting health workers and contacts of confirmed cases. With no authorised treatment, measures include isolation, suspending visits to schools and hospitals, and restrictions on funerals. Rwanda had 46 confirmed cases with ongoing contact tracing.
