Māori King Tuheitia Pootatau Te Wherowhero VII has passed away at age 69 following heart surgery. Serving 18 years on the throne, he worked for the unity of Māori tribes. Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and King Charles III expressed their condolences. The king will lie in state at Turangawaewae Marae.
