Once believed extinct, Northern Bald Ibis bird returns to European skies after 300 years

Once thought extinct in Europe, the Northern Bald Ibis has rebounded thanks to dedicated conservation efforts. Numbers have grown from 59 pairs in the wild to over 500, prompting the IUCN to upgrade its status from critically endangered to endangered in 2018.
