TRAI excludes Google, WhatsApp, Telegram and others from new licensing rules

TRAI has put forward new recommendations to streamline the telecom licensing process, excluding OTT services such as WhatsApp and Telegram. The proposals include a unified authorization system for different telecom services and suggest enabling satellite-based voice calling and messaging. TRAI also advocates shared infrastructure use among service providers to improve efficiency and cut costs.
