Salvagers launch new attempt to tow an oil tanker blown up by Yemen’s Houthi rebels
The EU’s Operation Aspides is working to salvage the Greek-flagged oil tanker Sounion in the Red Sea after attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels. The mission provides security for tugboats conducting towing operations. Attacked since August 21, the vessel carries 1 million barrels of crude oil, raising fears of an environmental disaster.
