UGC’s RPL guidelines explained: A comprehensive framework for skills creditisation
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has released draft guidelines on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), aimed at integrating India’s informal workforce into higher education. Aligned with NEP 2020 and the National Credit Framework (NCrF), the guidelines enable individuals to gain academic credits for informal and experiential learning. By promoting inclusivity, skill recognition, and lifelong learning, RPL seeks to enhance employability, reduce systemic inequities, and boost Gross Enrolment Ratios (GER). Public feedback is invited on the draft.
