Two-hour dinner with Trump, no meet with Harris: UK PM Keir Starmer’s USA trip so far
Keir Starmer recently met Donald Trump for a two-hour dinner in New York, aiming to build rapport with the Republican presidential candidate. Accompanied by Foreign Secretary David Lammy, Starmer discussed the US-UK relationship. While in New York, Starmer missed meeting Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, who was in Washington. He emphasised the importance of personal relationships in diplomacy. At the UN General Assembly, Starmer advocated for a more humble UK approach to international relations and urged restraint in global conflicts. He also called for permanent African representation on the UN Security Council and highlighted the catastrophic impact of ongoing global conflicts.
